What We Do

BG Teen

BG Teen is a safe, affirming space for middle and high schoolers, and programming is free so that cost is never a barrier. Every event at BG Teen has a common goal: To provide safe space to connect. From twice monthly meetups to field trips to community collaborations and the Discord server, every teen can exist here authentically – and there’s always food!

Gen Q

Gen Q provides a space for LGBTQ+ young adults ages 18-25 to show up and connect. We have activities available like table top games, gaming consoles, and arts and crafts – plus food – or just a comfy space to hang out.

Clothing

We keep a rack of donated clothing for anyone to pick out some gender-affirming new-to-them items while attending programming. If you have clean clothing or accessories to donate, please contact us to see if we have space to accept.

Little Queer Library

Through generous donations, we have stocked our “little queer library” – a rolling bookshelf that we have out during programming. Topics range from resources about LGBTQ history, gender and sexuality, coming out, books for parents, and even several fiction books. These can be borrowed or looked at any time someone is attending programming.

Community Events

SOKY Alliance is organizing community events during Pride Month in June. A community Pride Picnic is a fun, family friendly way to show up and spread some queer joy. Also, in collaboration with affirming First Christian Church, we collaborate on a Pride Worship Service.

Education

SOKY Alliance plans to begin offering Safe Zone training to groups and organizations who would like to become officially recognized as safe spaces. We also plan to have annual opportunities for potential volunteers or leadership committee members to plug in. Also in the future, we hope to organization educational opportunities for the community at large.
